Welcome

Welcome from Richard Smith, Chair of the Leicestershire Branch

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our Branch website. The Leicestershire Branch is an active part of the Richard III Society and so we share the Society’s aims of research into the life and times of King Richard III and the consequent re-evaluation of his reputation as a medieval monarch. As a Branch we hold regular meetings and social events and also trips to different places of interest. In recent years we have also hosted very successful Branch Study Days. Leicester, of course, enjoyed international attention in 2015 when King Richard was reinterred in the Cathedral with dignity and honour. The Branch played its part in supporting the Looking for Richard Project and the events of 2015 – elsewhere on this website you can find out more about those events and the Branch’s contribution. I believe you will find our Branch a very friendly group and visitors are always welcome to our meetings. I hope I will be meeting you at one of our meetings very soon.
